Getting information off the Internet is like taking a drink from a fire hydrant. — Mitchell Kapor

We live in a paradox.

On one hand, we experience Information Overload and we’re constantly being bombarded without the tools to assimilate and synthesize it all.

On the other hand, we are unknowingly trapped in online Filter Bubbles. The phenomenon by which, when left to ‘the algorithms’, we are placed in a hyper-personalized world of information with little to no exposure to diverse points of view.

Given this situation, how do we make sure that we make thoughtful decisions, informed choices, and fair judgements?

As we’ve posted before, it is not as simple as seeking out the neutral sources because, “Often information sources claim to have a neutral perspective, when in reality there is always a slant.

Here at Heipile, we are on a mission to expand your information universe, not by overwhelming you with information, but by curating and showcasing a truly diverse corpus of content on a variety of topics.

Using diversity as a tool to learn about a subject matter ensures that you’re seeing a fairer, truer, and a more in-depth version of reality.

Exposing oneself to diversity can mean different things in different contexts. It can range from simply looking at a couple of sources of information to exploring the issue from an alternate angle and maybe even candidly wearing another person’s shoes.

Employing multiple lenses also makes you more context-aware and enables you to control what notions to accept and what notions to reject.

We believe that empowering people with the ability to look through alternate viewpoints can open new doors, spark dialogues, and forge connections.
